| Being alone isn’t that bad, and sometimes it’s even pretty nice.
We are all familiar with the phrase “It is not good that the man should be alone” and we know that everyone strives to be part of a couple.
A young man who has a girlfriend feels like a king, a girl who has an official partner feels like a queen. And those who have never had a romantic relationship, or who are now alone, experience feelings of emptiness and frustration.
However, to tell you the truth, there’s no reason to feel that way. Being alone isn’t necessarily splendid, but it doesn’t have to be dark and gloomy. Sometimes being alone can actually be pretty nice.
The first stage of coping with being alone is to understand the situation and remember that life is constantly changing. Sometimes things go well for us and sometimes they don’t go so well. Sometimes we succeed and sometimes we fail. This is the reality that we live in. And we can’t always be in a situation where we’re surrounded with suitors and a great love. Sometimes we will be alone, and it’s perfectly all right, and there’s nothing wrong with it.
However, it’s important to remember that during a period of “aloneness” it’s important to utilize the time effectively and to turn that aloneness into something enjoyable. And this is certainly possible.
During this period learn to be your own friends. This is the time to be with family and other people. This is the time to cultivate new hobbies, to renew old occupations, to read books, to get organized, to paint, to write and to pamper yourself with little treats. It’s the time to go on a diet, to work, to study and to broaden your horizons, and it’s also a time to be idle – to do absolutely nothing!
You can do lots of things, but the most important thing of all is not to sit around twiddling your thumbs, with a long face. Instead of drowning in self-pity, learn to enjoy your own company. That way you’ll become more independent people, you’ll bolster your self-confidence and you’ll become more interesting people – until the change finally arrives.
We wish you success!
