| They say that once, somewhere on earth,
all the human feelings and qualities gathered. They were rather bored
and so Folly suggested: “Let’s play hide and seek!”
Curiosity raised an eyebrow, and because she couldn’t refrain, asked: “Hide and seek?
How do you play this game?”
Folly explained: "I cover my eyes and count to one million, you hide, and when I finish counting I will look for you”.
Enthusiasm danced with Euphoria, Happiness skipped so high that even Doubt and Indifference were convinced.
But not everyone agreed to join in:
Truth preferred not to hide, because in the end she would always be found out,
Pride said that it was a stupid game, but what probably really persuaded her was that it was not her idea.
One…two…three… Folly began to count.
The first to hide was laziness – she hid under the first stone that she came across.
Jealousy hid in the shadow of Success, who made a huge effort and found a place at the top of the highest tree.
Generosity found it hard to find somewhere to hide because each place looked wonderful for one of her friends, so she let it go by: “A hole in a tree trunk? Perfect for Modesty!”
Behind a butterfly’s wing? Perfect for Sensuality!
And so on. In the end she found a suitable place in a small ray of sunshine.
999,999… one million! Folly finished counting and began to search.
The first to be found was laziness – only three steps away.
Afterwards Doubt: sitting on the fence, still unable to decide where to hide.
Then they heard Passion shaking a volcano. Suddenly Jealousy appeared, and so Success was also found.
Only Love did not appear anywhere. Folly searched under every stone, behind every tree, at the tops of the hills…
And when he was about to despair, he saw a rosebush and began to search among its branches. Suddenly he heard a cry of pain: the thorns had wounded Love’s eyes. Folly did not know what to do to apologize and ask forgiveness:
He cried, begged, and even promised to accompany her everywhere.
And since that day – Love is blind and is accompanied by Folly.
