| Happiness is an emotion produced by enjoyment and satisfaction. Happiness is characterized by a strong feeling of joie de vivre, and enthusiasm, serenity, and hope, as well as a smile, laughter or joy. The state of happiness includes a good feeling of health, security, pleasure, satisfaction, peace of mind, and love.
When we know how to get enjoyment in life from the way in which we try to achieve things, then our lives will be perfect. It is important to enjoy the path to achievement, even though sometimes it is paved with obstacles and difficulties.
The secret of happiness:
Many have searched, and are still searching to this day, for the secret of happiness, although it is to be found deep within them, and all that can be done is simply to bring it out, to believe and to do.
There is an ancient Native Indian legend about one tribe that was constantly at war with other Indian tribes. This tribe inflicted damage, acted with contempt, and lived without moral values, until one day an Indian elder called a number of members of the tribe to a meeting to try and save the situation. The only way that he found was to take away from them the secret of happiness and success.
The elder thought a great deal about where he could hide it so that no one would find it, and in the end he found the answer. He decided to hide the secret of happiness and success deep, deep inside man himself. This was the only place where he would not think of looking for it.
The legend says that from that day on, man has been digging and searching to find happiness, despite the fact that it already exists - deep, deep inside him.
Happiness is a matter of perception. There are those who have everything, and are still miserable, and there are those who have almost nothing, but are happy. And therefore, for each and every person the source of happiness is different.
Sources of happiness:
Popular sources of happiness are money, love, health, children.
The accepted view among people studying happiness is that the sources of happiness are approximately:
· 50% genetic
· 10% environmental variables: personal situation (social connections, couplehood, state of health, level of income)
· Regarding the balance, there is no factual knowledge
Our happiness depends not only on what we are able to get, but on what we are able to do with what we have. A happy person will set himself new goals in life.
Happiness is to be found in the simple things of life:
· Getting up in the morning and seeing the sun rise
· Hearing children’s laughter
· A kiss from someone we love
· Eating a good meal
· And so on…
We all want to be happy. But for this, it is necessary to take action, to be ourselves, and to live life as we would like to. This is not a simple matter. After all, it is easy to expect other people to take care of us, and to rely on them. It is important to remember that life is given to us as a gift. It is intended for us, and we have the ability to overcome every obstacle in order to achieve the “way to happiness”.
We need to learn to forgive, to overcome grudges, and not to live in the past.
Positive thinking leads to positive actions and feelings
Joy and happiness are related to optimism and to thinking positively, and positive thinking results in our seeing the situation in a more positive way. People who are happy with what they have will feel wealthy, since they feel that they lack for nothing. “Think good – things will be good”. If we look at a situation positively it causes us to experience it in a more positive way. We suddenly discover that things that really annoyed or saddened us are not that important after all.
